Do I need to pay the full amount upfront?

A deposit of 25% per person (minimum £300) is required at the time of booking to secure your place. The remaining balance must be paid at least 90 days before departure (or 133 days for selected holidays).

A deposit secures your spot, with the remaining balance due before departure.

What happens in case of bad weather?

We review and adapt to maximise shooting opportunities, ensuring you still get the best experience.  Your safety is our top most priority.

How many people are in each tour group?

We keep our groups small, typically 3–8 participants, for a more immersive and personal experience.

What camera gear do I need?

We recommend using interchangeable lens cameras (DSLR or mirrorless) with telephoto capability to get the most out of our tours. Bridge cameras can also work well. While smartphones aren’t suitable for most wildlife photography, they may be helpful for macro workshops or behind-the-scenes shots.

Do I need a visa for my tour destination?

Visa requirements vary by nationality. We provide guidance, but it's your responsibility to ensure you meet entry requirements.

📷 Photography & Equipment
What gear do you need? What support do we provide? This section covers everything from cameras and lenses to editing help and tuition.
Show all
Do I need professional photography gear?

Not necessarily. A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a telephoto lens is ideal for wildlife photography. Bridge cameras can also be suitable. Smartphone photography is not recommended for our tours (except for macro workshops or casual use), as capturing distant wildlife requires more specialised equipment.

Will there be photography tuition?

Absolutely! Expect hands on guidance, from mastering camera settings and composition, to ethical field techniques and image review. It's all about tailoring the support to each individual, whether you're a beginner learning the ropes or a more experienced photographer looking to refine your craft.

Can I rent camera gear for the tour?

We don’t currently offer gear hire ourselves, but we’re happy to recommend trusted rental providers who cater to wildlife photography. This may be something we introduce in the future based on guest demand and destination logistics.

Do you provide tripods, hides, or other equipment?

We don’t currently provide tripods or equipment, but each tour listing outlines what’s available on-site (such as pre-installed hides). We’ll also let you know what to bring to be fully prepared.

What’s the best lens for wildlife photography on your tours?

This varies by destination, subject, shooting style, and preferred composition — but generally a telephoto lens (300mm or longer) is ideal for most wildlife tours. You'll receive a tailored gear guide for each tour with recommendations on focal lengths, lens types, and optional extras to help you prepare.

Do you offer editing or post-processing help?

Yes, we often include informal image review sessions and guidance on post-processing techniques during the tour.  Editing is very much down to the individual and their preferred style.

Can I join even if I’m not a confident photographer?

Absolutely. Our tours are designed to support photographers of all levels, we are here to help you learn at your own pace, and grow.

No — international flights are not included. However, some tours may include internal flights as part of the itinerary. Full details of what's included and excluded are listed on each tour page. What level of fitness is required?

Most of our tours involve moderate walking, sometimes across uneven or slippery ground, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful. Specific fitness guidance is provided on each individual tour page.

Please note: Our Winter Musk Ox tours in Norway require a high level of fitness. These involve around 3 hours of snowshoe hiking in winter conditions, often through deep snow and challenging terrain. It's tough, but the rewards are incredible for those up to the challenge!

How much luggage can I bring?

Travel light and check your airline’s baggage limits. Some remote destinations may have strict weight restrictions — especially if internal flights or transfers are involved.

We’ll outline any tour-specific guidance in your pre-departure pack, including recommended luggage sizes and packing tips for photography gear.

Are your tours wheelchair accessible?

We’re committed to making wildlife photography as inclusive as possible, but many of our tour locations involve rugged terrain, hides, and remote conditions that may not be suitable for wheelchair users. Will there be free time during the tour?

We adapt. Our guides adjust timings and locations to give you the best photographic opportunities, rain or shine. Every tour is designed with flexibility in mind, but safety always comes first — and depending on the type of tour or location, some adjustments may be limited.

Is wildlife guaranteed on your tours?

No. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed — we work with nature, not against it. Nothing is staged, and that’s part of the magic. Our tours are carefully timed and located to offer the best possible chances of encounters, based on seasonal behaviour and expert local knowledge.

You can check out our tour pages or past trip reports to see the kinds of wildlife we typically encounter — and the incredible moments our guests have captured.

🌿 Ethical Photography & Conservation
Nature’s Nomads is rooted in responsibility. Learn how we put wildlife first and support meaningful conservation efforts.
Show all
How do you ensure ethical wildlife photography?

We follow strict no-disturbance guidelines and actively educate our guests on responsible behaviour in the field. Every tour is rooted in respect for wildlife, and we always put the welfare of animals first.

You can learn more about our approach in the Nature’s Nomads Code of Conduct and Guiding Principles.

Do your tours support conservation?

We aim to make a positive impact wherever possible. While we’re a young business with limited resources, we prioritise working with local partners who are committed to conservation and sustainability. Supporting ethical wildlife tourism is part of our long-term vision, and we’re exploring meaningful ways to contribute as we grow.

Do you use baiting, playback calls or lures?

Only when ethically approved by conservation partners and local guides — and never without full transparency. Some hide-based tours do involve baiting, which is a standard and carefully managed practice in certain locations to increase the chance of sightings and photography.

Our priority is always to photograph natural behaviour responsibly, with minimal interference and full respect for the wildlife and ecosystems we work within.

🛡️ Safety & Insurance
Your wellbeing matters. This section explains what precautions we take and how you can protect yourself and your gear.
Show all
Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all guests and a condition of booking. It must cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, curtailment, delays, and equipment loss or damage.

Proof of valid cover may be required prior to or during the tour.

What safety measures are in place for remote locations?

All our guides are first-aid trained, and we always have emergency plans and contact systems in place.

Are there dangerous animals or risks I should be aware of?

Nature is unpredictable, but your safety is always our top priority. You’ll receive thorough safety briefings from our team, and we work closely with local experts to minimise risk at every step.

Wildlife encounters can be thrilling, but we always follow strict safety protocols, maintain respectful distances, and never take unnecessary risks — for your safety and the animals’ wellbeing.
