Photograph white-tailed eagles at eye level as they descend to the water just metres from your lens one of the most dynamic and reliable wildlife encounters in Europe.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Norway’s fjords, this is a dedicated wildlife photography experience built around boat-based sessions designed specifically for capturing eagles in flight. Working with an experienced local operator, positioning and timing are carefully managed to maximise photographic opportunity while maintaining a natural, ethical approach.
Norway offers some of the most consistent opportunities to photograph white-tailed eagles at close range. Birds regularly pass near the boat, allowing for clean compositions, strong light, and repeated chances to refine your technique.
Each session is focused and purposeful. You’ll spend time on the water during optimal conditions, working with light, direction, and positioning to capture both high-impact action and more controlled, minimal compositions.
Out on the water, everything happens quickly.
A distant shape becomes movement. Wings lock, then adjust. The eagle commits.
It drops with intent, powerful, controlled, skimming the surface before contact. Water breaks. Talons strike. Then it lifts again, climbing back into the fjord air.
These encounters unfold in seconds, but rarely just once. With each pass, there’s an opportunity to adjust, refine, and anticipate.
The images created here are defined by movement, precision, and timing clean, dynamic, and unmistakably wild.
This Norway wildlife photography tour is ideal for photographers who:

When sea conditions and weather allow, we aim for both morning and afternoon sessions. Light, wind direction, and bird activity determine exact timing, and the schedule remains flexible to maximise photographic opportunity.
One of these days may be allocated to an optional full-day golden eagle hide session. Entry is before dawn and exit after dusk, offering the possibility of both perched and flight imagery of a resident pair.
Evenings are relaxed, with shared meals and time for image review.
Departure after breakfast. Depending on flight times and conditions, a short final session may be possible before transfer back to Ålesund Airport.
